Understanding detoxification
Not understanding detoxification or realizing that it can occur may be troubling or confusing.
It is crucial to follow through. Our products are made under strict quality control standards using quality ingredients and it is unlikely that anything much irregular will occur, however if symptoms of detoxification do appear they may not occur immediately and there can be multiple stages of detoxification.
When transitioning a pet for the first time to Balance Diet™, keep in mind a few simple points.
1) Your pet may not have a dense population of probiotic bacteria- Probiotics colonize along the gastrointestinal tract and will therefore probably eat more at first deriving less nutritional value. Your pet should reach homeostasis or nutrient saturation in up to 90 days. This is the point where your pet has no further nutritional deficit. The pet will only require small amounts of food thereafter to maintain that condition.
2) Over time, approximately 30 days- your pet will develop a resident colony of beneficial bacteria (probiotic) conditioning the pet to be able to reach higher levels of nutritional absorption previously unattainable. This bacteria aids in the breakdown, subsequent absorption, and metabolization of nutrients much more completely.
3) Your pet may experience mild detoxification effects. In some cases, it can be more dramatic depending on the pet's nutritional background and state of health. This can include runny eyes and/or nose, discharge from ears, mucus and/or blood in stool, partial loss of hair coat, regurgitating stomach contents, and hacking of phlegm out of lungs. These symptoms should clear up in approximately 5 to 10 days. In most cases, the transition is very subtle and the detox. is practically undetectable. Usually the only changes that are noticeable are the improvements.
4) Balance Diet™ will then begin to show the results of nourishment such as lowered consumption, increased digestion, reduced stool volume and frequency of elimination, shinier coat, clearer brighter eyes, vitality, muscle tone, concentration, stabilized blood sugar, improved general health and well being. We have experienced phenomenal results up to and including the passing of tumorous masses. The wonder of detoxification is unique to our products due to whole real purified ingredients (VitaMethod™). It is rarely, if ever, achieved by any other source of pet food.
Bio-enhancements are our therapeutic products. Proceed gradually. Bio-enhancements begin to clean out toxins and pathogens right away. However, if you increase too quickly, this cleansing may occur faster than the body can eliminate the accumulated toxins. This may cause some discomfort. During the three-month period, you will saturate your pet's body with beneficial bacteria and nutrients and allow the immune system functions to react. After three months or so, you can gradually decrease back to the RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE SERVINGS.
5. Continue feeding Balance Diet™ as this will facilitate good elimination.
The beneficial microorganisms in Balance Diet™ are multiple strains of beneficial "transient" and "resident" bacteria and enzymes Resident Soil Based Organisms (R.S.B.O.) Your pet's body does not manufacture these; wild dogs and cats ingest them every day with unpolluted food from rich non-chemical soil and heat processing. Since it is difficult to get unpolluted, non-heat processed pet food or soil organisms. Much of the good bacteria in our pet's bodies are reduced in day-to-day activities, we have to supplement their diet every day with these organisms. "Resident" bacteria such as acidophilus can only proliferate when the right living foods are fed, so that dog and cat colons are not overrun with yeast or pathogenic bacteria, and their colonic pH is slightly acidic. Beneficial bacteria have multiple functions in your pet's body. One is to cleanse the rotting layers of undigested hydrocarbons lining the digestive system (including the small intestine); another is to trigger the immune system to create extra immune-bolstering chemicals and extra antibodies (B-lymphocytes). These vigorous antibodies travel the body searching out pathogens or foreign matter, and the increased immune function helps eliminate parasites as well as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and yeasts that are in the pets body actively or left over from previous illnesses. A fight then begins between the revitalized immune system and the pathogenic invaders that will cause a ‘die-off' (detoxification).
90-Day Program.
"Good" bacteria in your pet’s intestines are responsible for keeping the "bad" bacteria in check to establish proper balance in their GI tract. Because most pets have putrefaction and bad bacteria concentrated in the colon. The friendly bacteria in bio-enhancements must battle overwhelming odds to crowd out pathogens and have enough left over to provide the immune system with the proper stimulus. THIS NATURAL RESTORATION PROCESS TAKES TIME. You pet didn't arrive at its current health state overnight. If you are giving the products because your pet has a health problem, DO NOT EXPECT TO SEE OVERNIGHT RESULTS. BE PREPARED TO COMMIT TO A MINIMUM OF 90 DAYS at the recommended dosage.
Toxic Elimination.
Your pet’s body may go through a "Healing Opportunity" period. As the pets body cleanses and repairs itself, toxins MUST BE PURGED from its body. For example, a "cold" is not "the sickness", a cold is the process by which your body eliminates the toxins after the fact. Many pets have very few or mild toxin-elimination responses. In homeopathy, it is commonly assumed a Herxheimer Reaction is a desired signal meaning the treatment is working. Symptoms of a prior condition repeating for a period of time are called "retracing". If your pet experiences a "healing opportunity", DON'T PANIC, THIS IS NORMAL! The Resident Soil Based Organisms (R.S.B.O.) the bio-enhancements are not "making your pet sick". The yeast, fungi, harmful bacteria, parasites or viruses in your pet’s body are reacting to your pet’s body's own cleansing process. Many people, when they understand why their pet may have a reaction, welcome any temporary discomfort their pets might experience as evidence of the cleansing and healing process. This discomfort is usually short and mild, from several hours to a day or two depending on the individual pets. For example, a pet with allergies may go through an allergic period with headaches, stuffed nose, etc. A pet with chronic fatigue may go through a short time of exhaustion or weakness. A period of constipation is common as putrefaction is being pulled from cells, skin, organs, and the colon.
A. Bowel Function-If your pet has previously experienced constipation for a long period time, it may have bouts of constipation while the digestive system goes through the normalization process, especially at the higher levels of bio-enhancements. Increased constipation or diarrhea is a result not merely of lack of fiber but absence of the good bacteria necessary for enzymatic action on the food. Do not use products that will counteract the cleansing process such as fiber laxitives or dietary fiber supplements as this only exacerbates the problems. Bio-enhancements will help your pet regulate the elimination process. THIS WILL TAKE TIME. If at any time you become too uncomfortable with the process, decrease the consumption of the bio-enhancements (i.e. feed a third-half as much temporarily.) Do not be alarmed if their stools become very dark. This is the putrefaction being eliminated.
B. Classic Symtoms-There are classic symptoms of detoxification of your pets and cats body. Rarely will these reactions cause much discomfort; often they last for only several hours and sometimes several days. Poisons have to come out of the body somewhere, and usually come out in the weakest areas. If a pet has had pneumonia or lung problems, often it will experience mucous and phlegm coughed up from the lungs. Sinus problems often result in headaches as the toxins are being eliminated through the digestive system. Have plenty of NON-CHLORINATED WATER available DAILY. This will help flush the toxins out of the system. (see also: our antioxidant type supplements)
C. Yeast and Fungus-Bio-enhancements (our probiotic products) are extremely aggressive against yeast and other fungi. If your pet or cat has this problem, start by taking a small amount of the Bio-enhancements and gradually increase to full dosages. Many pets and cats experience yeast elimination very quickly. Sometimes this process takes several months. Your pets and cats may go through some sugar / carbohydrate cravings (addiction) or even mild depression and tiredness. THIS IS NORMAL and will pass. If you get fecal tests, do not be surprised if more yeast or "bad" bacteria show up in their stool in the first several months. They have to come out somewhere! Because this elimination can be very quick or heavy, proceed conservatively.
D. Discomfort-IF AT ANY TIME YOUR PET or CAT FEELS UNCOMFORTABLE ENOUGH TO CURTAIL ALL ACTIVITY, REDUCE THEIR DOSAGE. Do not stop giving the product! Just slow down so the toxin elimination is reduced. (See our probiotic product lines for rapid toxic relief)
Remember, if your pet is ill, the only way back to permanent health is to eliminate the cause of the disease, not to treat symptoms with drugs or symptom remedies that do not treat the actual problem.
