Why Fermentation? Our proprietary VitaMethod™ Fermentation technology naturally concentrates nutrition. The fermentation breaks down nutrients into simpler forms whereby the molecular structure can then realign, thereby creating new heathful compounds finding its own perfect balance naturally this process is called hydrolysis. The new compounds are even more potent and more nutritious than the contributions of the original ingredients. Synergies are what "The VitaMethod™ miracle of fermentation" is all about, that is the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, this synergetic process is called glycolysis: the enzymatic breakdown of a carbohydrate (as glucose) by way of phosphate derivatives with the production of pyruvic or lactic acid and energy stored in high-energy phosphate bonds of ATP. We create varied molecular structures by fermentation giving your pets a diversified diet from a nutritional point of view. For example, wine, cheese, and aged cured sausage are all made under similar conditions; there are billions of reactions and no two fermentations could ever be exactly the same. Therefore, each fermentation has its own unique characteristics. This ensures your the most diverse array of nutritional possibilities conceivable. Effectively you are varying your pets diet even though you are feeding the same daily staple diet. The VitaMethod™ has been described as a “pharmaceutical grade veterinary nutrition" –i.e. pure (outstanding for therapeutic healing and recovery)
The VitaMethod™ supports B-complex antioxidants. Dogs and cats need whole food to replicate a natural diet, which is why pets relate to the VitaMethod™ instinctively. The VitaMethod™ fermentation emulsion supports dense proportions of enzymes, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, amino acids, and populations of beneficial micro-flora cultures, and electrolytes, thereby generating higher nutritional bio-availability and potency.
Is the VitaMethod™ Raw? When we describe the VitaMethod™ as being natural or raw, you must consider the following. We borrow technology from sausage, jerky, cheese, and wine making. Our process does not include any salting/brining, or chemical preservatives. While we do consider it to be raw, you must bear in mind that fermentation alters the molecular composition. Fermentation is an enzymatically controlled transformation of organic compounds. We introduce all of the fruits, vegetables, herbs, fish, and meats, into the fermentation process, fresh whole and raw. We consider this not justto be “fresh”, but what we call “refreshed” (full of or renewed in vigor). We rely on molecular binding (cross-linking bonds) during the process to control respiration and condensation of moisture (aka water activity) to preserve and maintain freshness naturally. The fermentation process is a form of predigesting. It makes it easier for dogs and cats to assimilate (e.g. wild prey stomach and intestinal tract contents: acronym IT) which is also a fermentation process similar to the VitaMethod™. That is where we achieve the huge gains of metabolic efficiency (e.g. low consumption, high absorption, low organic depleted stools). This helps achieve the homeostasis (stable state or equilibrium, synonym: Balance) of your pets. We call this nutrient saturation. Furthermore, we use an acid etching technique (e.g. seviche - raw fish marinated in citrus juices), which marinates and “acid cooks” it (alters the cellular tissue at the molecular level) with citric acid, not heat, leaving the nutrition 100% intact, even improved.
Why is the VitaMethod™ a wet process? The VitaMethod™ is not dry. It is a wet emulsion. We rely on moisture to maintain the integrity of the antioxidants (an enzyme or other organic substance, as vitamin E or beta carotene, capable of counteracting the damaging effects of oxidation in animal tissues) and other enzymes. Dehydration would cause suffocation of these valuable attributes. We maintain high levels of healthy Saturated and unsaturated fats & oils, such as, avocado oil, orange peel oil, naturally derived chicken/beef fats, and salmon oil. Many other pet foods contain propylene glycol, formalin's (formaldehyde derivatives), or glycerol. They rely on these toxins to maintain control over moisture activity but technically are not in a moist state. The VitaMethod™ maintains its texture and moisture through molecular binding of water molecules with fat soluble molecules during the fermentation process. This process generates bio- electrochemical synergy?
What is Curing? Curing is a time process of conversion, which can be accelerated with enzymatic activity and bacterial cultures during exposure to air (air dry).
What do you mean by natural? When we suggest that the VitaMethod™ is natural, it is because we grow and bring in fresh whole food ingredients, we do not use synthetic ingredients and chemicals. The VitaMethod™ is a natural organic process which overcomes many problems such as sprayed vegetables and trapped toxins in meat tissue. During the VitaMethod™ process of biological transformation we liberate any forms of trapped toxins into harmless methane gases. This combined with our unique preservation techniques utilizing naturally occurring ascorbic, citric, malic, folate acids, we have effectively acid etched and detoxified everything synergistically and simultaneously. The net result is purity. We don't call it a raw diet, though it may well be interpreted as such. We have been more comfortable using the terminology of “pure diet”, which relates to the high non-toxic digestibility and available nutrient value. It is a controlled replication of humus upon the rain forests floor.
How is the food made? The basic fermentation takes about 4 weeks in a state of emulsion divided into bio-reactors (wine vats). Over this period, excess moisture is purged off and then agitated every other day for the first 15 days, until it is thickened where it can then be rolled out like clay and die cut. Then at this point, we begin the curing process which takes about four days give or take depending on atmospheric conditions. It is a cool low-light process likened to wine making. This process leaves enzymes and antioxidants intact.
What kind of results can I expect? For unparalleled nutritional potency, use Balance Diet™. Balance Diet™ nutrition products are widely used as the finest complete diets. With Balance Diet™ products, pets consume only useful nutrition (no by-products, toxins, or fillers). Their stools become noticeably darker, firmer, and smaller. Balance Diet™ nutrition conditions the intestinal tract (paristolisis) and cleanses the colon for efficient elimination. Balance Diet™ will maintain a beautiful, bright-shining, full coat and excellent oral hygiene. Over time, your pet(s) will eat less as it absorbs more nutrition (homeostasis/nutrient saturation-thermogenisis). Your pets will have more longevity potential, available stamina and endurance for sports/performance as well as increased muscle tone. Mental acuity will be enhanced (stabilized blood sugar.)
Do I need to use supplements with Balance Diet™ Foods? Balance Diet™ Foods are a pure, fresh, full spectrum nutritional sources. This enables pets to feast on fresh lean meats, fish, eggs, fruits, and vegetables which is complimented with naturally derived monounsaturated fats and oils (such as olive oil, citrus zest, chicken fat, and avocado), water soluble B-complex antioxidants (phyto-nutrients), and Omega-3,6/9 essential fatty acids. Balance Diet™ includes five sources of lean meat proteins, and naturally derived vitamins and minerals, from over 22 USDA and or organic ingredients. From which, all ages of dogs and cats may derive complete nutritional "balance." Only human grade ingredients provide the highest levels of results! With this in mind, your pets can benefit greatly from supplementation because supplements can be highly targeted for both, more refined specific classes of nutrients, and special needs.
What about my pet's stools? Organic ingredients will result in organic bio-degradable stools which will breakdown (biodegrade) in your yard much more quickly. One of our customers has 6 dogs and 3 cats in about half an acre and his yard is not littered with feces even after years of no scooping. It turns to chalk white ash and melts away. It only occurred to him after a few years, as it was never an issue.
Are tomatoes good for my pets? Regarding tomatoes, although a single tomato is not exceptionally high in any particular nutrient, they provide a larger percentage of dietary nutrients than any other fruit or vegetable when fed consistently. As would occur with Balance Diet™ containing approximately 4% tomato. A tomato is made up of mostly water; it's nutrients include vitamin A, a substantial amount of vitamin C, trace amounts of several other vitamins, a bit of iron and other minerals, a little fiber, and a very small amount of protein. Like all fruits and vegetables, the tomato contains a bit of fat, no cholesterol, and delivers a mere 5 calories per ounce or about 30 calories in an average tomato. Since tomato provides vitamin A, it also contains one of its precursors, beta-carotene. It is now suspected that it is not only beta-carotene that offers cancer protection but also its cousins, carotenoids. Among these relatives is one called lycopene, and the tomato, fresh or as tomato sauce, juice, or paste contains more of it than any other produce (almost twice as much as second-ranking watermelon). The tomato surpasses all other vegetables and fruits in total carotenoids. This is not to encourage you to think of tomatoes as medicine, but to offer you yet another reason to freely feed your pet Balance Diet™, should you need one. P-coumaric acid and chloragenic acid in tomatoes slow carcinogen formation.

What is probiotic bacteria? Within your pets digestive tract resides a complex microscopic ecosystem. This consists of a population of millions of millions: trillions of microorganisms that can exist together either in harmony or disharmony. This is known as intestinal flora. The well-being, metabolism, lifespan, physical, and mental state are dependent upon this miniature ecosystem for direction. These 400 unique types of microorganisms within the tract make up about 2.5% of their body weight. When the ecosystem is operating correctly, it protects the body from destructive bacteria, viruses, and yeast. Additionally, it will incite the performance of the digestive tract and generates necessary vitamins while controlling their concentration. The tiny ecosystem sustains the animal's vital hormonal and chemical balance. This allows for optimal energy, imperative immune function, and even works against compounds which reside in the colon. Take a look at our BD™ BioFlora™, BioLact™, Felora™ Librium™, and TheraFlora™ probiotic supplements
How are probiotic bacteria related to bad bacteria? It is crucial to know that both the good and the bad microorganisms live in the intestinal tract. Their link is symbiotic but complicated as they control one another's populations. An example would be the destructive organisms, Candida Ablicans yeast colonies for instance, that live in the intestinal tract are in fact crucial for the digestion of sugars, the discharge of critical enzymes, nutrients, and many other important substances which they bring about. Helpful microorganisms like L. acidophilus, among others, prevent the overpopulation of Candida Ablicans yeast. This prevents the harmful spreading of the yeast. Should the Candida Ablicans begin to grow beyond a healthy number, infections would form in various regions of the body. This would obviously be harmful to the animal.
Are bacteria necessary for health and vitality? Yes, bacteria are critical as a tie between the body's intestinal flora and it's facility to preclude serious illnesses and increase a quality lifespan. Bacteria even aid in healing, immune system efficiencies, vigor, vitality, and in proportion are valuable without respect to age. Should the microbial ecosystem within the digestive tract become upset, the probiotic bacteria cannot thrive in necessary numbers to perform their beneficial functions. It is even believed that disturbances in the micro-ecosystem are responsible for up to 90% of known diseases and illnesses.
What disrupts these beneficial bacteria? Most frequently the stasis is disrupted by the use of antibiotics, stresses, chlorinated water, and immoderate consumption of carbohydrates as in dry, heat processed pet foods. The bacteria can be harmed by variable levels of alkalinity and acidity in the intestinal tract which result in an altered bowel climate. This will affect the population, type, and function of the probiotic bacteria. Heat processed pet foods containing scorched proteins and unnecessary carbohydrates that unbalance the acid/alkaline level of the intestinal tract which leads to an abundance of harmful microbes. Many prescriptions, anti-inflammatory drugs, and painkillers also have this undesirable effect. A diet high in carbohydrate will also cause this unbalance. This leads to the putrefactive disease enabling bacteria that will win out over probiotic bacteria setting a course for grim heath conditions. These corruptive bacteria frequently release toxins when met with foods in the digestive tract. This adverse set of conditions could lead to an overwhelming toxic load on the body, essentially poisoning the animal. Finally, many degenerative diseases have the capability of taking hold.
What will happen without a balance of good and bad bacteria? A list of malfunctions are a result of an imbalance of microbes in the intestinal tract. Diarrhea, intestinal gas, constipation, persistent bad breath, fatigue, diminished immune response, bladder infections, candida albicans, allergies, skin fungus, and lactose intolerance are all indicators of an imbalance. The use of Balance Diet™ foods combined with BD™ probiotic supplements over time will introduce a steady stream of probiotic bacteria to protect your pets from a vast array of maladies. This powerful combination will help to rebuild the balance of probiotics in the pets digestive tract. This is significant as it can reverse the imbalances which may be building up to detrimental health conditions. For those of you who are suffering through the painful episodes of agonizing research to discover any remedies for your pets, this is extremely good news, not to mention that prevention is always better than recovery. There are there some microbes that come and go. In addition to the microorganisms that dwell in the intestinal tract on a daily basis, there are some microbes that are transient. These transient microbes also have vital functions which promote well being and health.
